CRIB & CROFT
Our garden hums with movement and sound. Hydrangea blooms nod, barberry sprays bob, and weeping branches whisper in the seemingly ever-present breeze. Clusters of lavender and Russian sage spikes gracefully waltz with honey bees. Blue-hued grasses gently sway and wave, while the rustle of astilbes echoes like soft applause. Robins and finches sing, hummingbirds hover, and quail parade about. From the fluttering petals of spring to the fiery pirouette of autumn leaves, the garden transforms with each season. Eventually, snowflakes blanket the earth, tucking everything in. Bright red berries of winterberry hollies stand like ornaments against the sleeping white of winter.
Welcome. Crib & Croft was created as a way to share this place with you. Our home and garden are nestled within a family-friendly suburban neighborhood in Washington's Spokane River Valley (USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 6), surrounded by the scenic beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
Here, we’re graced with so many wonderful elements that foster thriving life and ever-changing beauty. Our "crib and croft" was thoughtfully designed from the ground up, inspired by an ideal of harmony, balance, and wellbeing for our family. Every flower, plant, tree, stone, pathway, and furnishing was placed with intention to bring this vision to life. We tend to our home and garden as we tend to our lives—pruning what no longer serves, nourishing what needs growth, and allowing space for natural evolution. Gratitude permeates every corner.
Our boys are growing up here. They were toddlers when we first built our home. My hope is that they feel loved and nurtured by the environment we’ve created—that their spaces evoke a sense of magic and wonder. The garden, in particular, isn’t about teaching perfection; it’s about showing them how to create and manifest from what is unseen, working with the subtle energies and rhythms of life. Through mindful action, a garden becomes a beautiful, living reflection. True creation starts from within, and by harmonizing with nature and embracing its process, the internal vision comes to life.
May our boys always feel whole, connected, and supported. May they feel empowered to dream, strategize, take inspired action, live by their highest values, and serve humanity with their light.
As you explore Crib & Croft, I hope it inspires you to reflect on your own space—whether it’s your home, your garden, or simply a corner of your day. Our journey is a reminder that creating an environment of beauty, intention, and care can have a profound impact on how we feel, how we connect, and how we grow. Wherever you are, may you find your own ways to nurture life’s delicate balances, embrace change, and cultivate a sense of harmony. Whether through mindful gardening, designing your home, or nurturing your relationships, remember that small, thoughtful actions can lead to something truly magical.
Warmest wishes, Meg
